HIRING ANNOUNCEMENT: MTB Bike Program Coordinators! This is a temporary full-time position beginning end of April and ending late August: 35-40 hours per week Expectations The Program Coordinator will assist with the design, initiation and implementation of the 2008 spring and summer rides program. Specific tasks are diverse and engaging, and may vary depending on the initiative and abilities of the applicant. Various duties will include but are not limited to: -Work with schools, community centres and youth agencies to develop a spring and summer rides schedule -Participate in all scheduled rides and events as a leader and coordinator -Ensure ongoing communication with partner organizations -Assist Program Manager with various administrative duties and event planning -Plan and coordinate learning themes, components and activities -Share knowledge of mountain biking skills and trail etiquette -Create a safe, friendly and fun environment for all ride participants -Demonstrate compassion, respect, enthusiasm and creativity Requirements -Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a community college or university -Returning to school in September 2008 -Experience working with children and/or youth. Past experience with youth at risk is an asset. -Intermediate to advanced mountain biking ability -Flexible schedule to allow for overnight trips and potential weekends/evening rides -Valid Class 4 BC Drivers License- (if you do not have a Class 4 driver’s license, you will need to obtain one prior to the start of the spring rides program) -Current First Aid and CPR certification (if you do not have First Aid/CPR, you will need to obtain certification prior to the start of the spring rides program) -A criminal record check is mandatory -Working knowledge of bicycle maintenance and repair -Demonstrated leadership skills -Able to delegate tasks as needed -Organized, independent and motivated with the ability to work unsupervised Compensation The Program Coordinator position pays $18.00/hr plus vacation pay at 4% Application process The application deadline is Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008. Trips for Kids offers mountain biking excursions within Vancouver and the surrounding areas for youth from low-income families. Expectations The Ride Leader will assist in the implementation and delivery of day trips and overnight mountain bike excursions. Specific tasks are diverse and engaging, and may vary depending on the initiative and abilities of the applicant. Various duties will include but are not limited to; -Assist in the development and implementation of the rides schedule for both the spring and summer programs -Participate in all scheduled rides and events as a leader and coordinator -Assist Program Manager and Program Coordinator with various administrative duties -Maintain bicycles, helmets and other applicable equipment -Coordinate transportation of all necessary equipment to every ride -Share knowledge of mountain biking skills and trail etiquette -Create a safe, friendly and fun environment for all ride participants -Demonstrate compassion, respect, enthusiasm and creativity Requirements -Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a community college or university -Returning to school in September 2008 -Experience working with children and/or youth.
