Job Purpose
The program coordinator for TFKV will be primarily responsible for managing and executing the 2011 spring and summer rides program, as well as facilitating, leading and organizing rides with partner youth agencies and community centers.

In the spring of 2001, Trips for Kids Vancouver became the first Canadian chapter of a non-profit organization that started in Marin County, California in 1986. Trips for Kids mandate is to take kids biking and prepare them for life. Our organization’s aim is to provide access to the outdoors for inner city youth with a number of barriers – social, cultural, economic and geographic. We are run by a volunteer board of directors are searching for summer staff who share our same passion.
Summer Rides Program Description
2011 will be Trips for Kids 11th Summer Rides Program in Vancouver. The Program involves partnering with community centers, neighborhood houses and youth agencies in Central and East Vancouver to provide a structured mountain bike program with various agencies. Trips for Kids’ mandate is to take kids biking. In previous summers, we have created the opportunity for over 500 youth with barriers to accessing the outdoors to ride in Pacific Spirit Park, Seymour Demonstration Forest, Delta Watershed, Squamish and Whistler.

Trips for Kids Vancouver Society is excited to announce a new partnership with The North Face for 2011
The Trips for Kids board can hardly wait for the snow to melt and our ride leaders and youth to hit the local trails – equipped with the latest and greatest gear from The North Face of course.
The North Face will be providing financial support as well as uniforms and riding gear to our Summer Rides staff, Youth Leadership Program participants and over 400 other youth participants this season
Our new sponsor has also provided us with three Gopro head cameras for youth participants to record their riding experiences. The board has been eagerly testing the new gear on the winter slopes over the Holiday break and will be posting some footage on the site soon.

Trips for Kids Vancouver will be hiring 2-3 staff during the spring to help run our 11th Annual Summer Rides Program. Stay tuned here for job postings and future details.
This past Monday (August 9th), the TFKV Youth Leaders Club were the first group of volunteers to join the crew from the District of North Van to reshape a Fromme favorite – Bobsled!
This joint project by the NSMBA and the DNV offers an exciting shift in North Shore trail-building; with a smooth and flowy style true to its’ namesake.
Trips For Kids is UBER excited to take part in shaping new trails that are accessible to the beginner/intermediate rider. Props to the NSMBA and the DNV for developing this partnership, and the visioning for more collaboration into the future!

Here is THE OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME to share your experience, skills, and age-old (but not “old” old?) wisdom with an amazing group of teenagers.
The TFK Youth Leadership Club targets youth ages 13-17 with an interest in developing their biking skills, and gaining related training and volunteer experience. The program is centered around developing new skills and building self-esteem in a fun and supportive environment.

We are open to all sorts of new ideas related to biking, outdoor education, and personal development. Please contact us with your ideas to lead a workshop, and/or alternatively volunteer to SUPPORT a workshop. There are many ways to get involved and we’d love to hear from you!
